The Art of Warhammer Video Games is a 208-page hardback covering more than thirty years of Warhammer video games. Written by Andy Hall, who worked on everything from Total War: Warhammer and Vermintide to Space Wolf and Blood Bowl 2, the book pulls together concept art, promotional material, developer insights, and over 20,000 words of commentary. Hall knows the space. He’s played most of these games himself, starting back with the original Space Hulk on the Amiga.

This isn’t just a picture book. It’s a visual and written record of the biggest and best Warhammer titles from the past three decades. While it covers both 40K and fantasy games, the 40K side is well represented. Dawn of War, Space Marine, Mechanicus, Rogue Trader, Battlesector, Boltgun, and Tacticus all feature. That’s alongside Vermintide, Total War: Warhammer, and Realms of Ruin. Based on early previews, Space Marine gets several pages, including full two-page spreads. Don’t expect deep dives into shovelware or licensed filler—this is focused on the hits.
There’s also some added value. Each copy comes with Steam codes for Vermintide, Battlesector, and Realms of Ruin. You also get a redeemable unlock code for Lieutenant Titus in the mobile game Tacticus. Codes are activated through Steam and Green Man Gaming.

The book is being published by DK (Dorling Kindersley), the same imprint behind other well-produced visual encyclopaedias. It’s the first serious attempt to document the artistic evolution of Warhammer video games in one place. Until now, this stuff has lived in marketing decks, old websites, artbooks bundled with limited editions, or just scattered across the internet. This book pulls it together in a way that looks clean and presentable. It’ll sit well next to The Art of Warhammer or the Black Library series hardbacks, if you’re already collecting.
Release is set for 11 November 2025. Preorders are open now.
If you’re serious about Warhammer games, this one’s worth picking up.
