Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 Adds Full Mod Support

Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 now has official mod support, with full access to the same development tools used by Saber Interactive. It’s the biggest shift in the game’s post-launch life and opens the door to serious community-driven content.

Until now, modding Space Marine 2 meant fiddling with scripts, limited to basic changes and UI tweaks. That’s over. The newly released Integration Studio gives players everything they need to create new campaigns, mechanics, game modes, UI overhauls, and more. The editor is exactly what Saber’s team uses internally, and it’s available to download now.

What’s In the Update

Game director Dmitry Grigorenko made the announcement via the Space Marine 2 Modding Hub Discord:

“Even the model exporter and 12-player co-op ops pale in comparison — because as of today, we’re releasing the official Integration Studio for public use. No more editing files in Notepad and praying you didn’t miss a bracket — Integration Studio makes editing anything SSL-related ten times faster, safer, and more intuitive.”

That includes full control over:

  • AI scripting and behaviour
  • Game logic and mechanics
  • Level layouts and encounters
  • HUD/UI customisation
  • Scenario design and player triggers

Mods will still be limited to private lobbies for now to avoid the matchmaking issues that caused problems last year. But everything else is open season.

The Fishing Meme Is Real

Alongside the release, Grigorenko shared early artwork of a minigame concept: Fishing With Daddy Calgar. Yes, really. The idea started as a joke but has quickly become a community challenge. The tools are now available, and modders are already planning to make it happen.

More serious mods are also underway. Popular modders, including the creator of the Astartes Overhaul, are already working on new faction content and campaign expansions. The Tau and Necrons are top of the wishlist, according to chatter on the modding Discord and X.

What This Means for Space Marine 2

This update changes how long the game will stay relevant. Space Marine 2 was already one of the best-selling 40K titles, passing five million copies since launch in late 2024. It’s had strong post-launch support and regular updates. Now, it’s opened the gates to fan-made content that can keep it going well into the future.

Modding has always been one of the few ways 40K games build lasting communities. Dawn of War lived off its mod scene for over a decade. Battlefleet Gothic: Armada saw major fan additions. Space Marine 2 now joins that list, but with better tools and a bigger player base.

Focus and Saber aren’t done either—Space Marine 3 is confirmed to be in development. But in the meantime, Space Marine 2 just became a whole lot more interesting.
